What's Wrong with this Country

There can be many answers to the question above, but this specific post deals with one thing.  If you have not seen the video or heard about the Ryan Moats, Houston Texans Running back, incident with the Dallas police officer Robert Powell outside the hospital while his mother-in-law was dying.  Moats was driving to the hospital after being told by doctors that his mother-in-law is on her way out and if they want to say their goodbyes they better get their quick.  He had his hazards on and carefully went thru a red light and a stop sign with his wife and what seemed to be another women maybe his sister-in-law.  The cop pulled up behind him as he went thru the red light and put their lights on, obviously with more important things on his mind he did not stop, when he parked at the hospital the cop started screaming for everyone to get back in the car, his wife not giving a fuck and the other lady walked away into the hospital while Moats was then harassed for over 15 minutes by the cop.  The cop asked for his license and insurance and even after he was given it delayed running the plates by saying that he did not like Moats attitude and that he can tow the car and bring Moats to jail.  First off, Moats was a saint the way he was handling himself in the situation, he was being respectful and obeying everything he was asked to do while continuously saying "my mother-in-law is dying right now."  Then a security guard and nurses came out to try to ask the cop to continue this later or hurry up and the cop smugly responded that he was almost done.  After 15 plus minutes Moats was given a ticket, finally Moats made it into the hospital to say goodbye to his mother-in-law but it was too late she had died a few minutes before.

Below is the 2 parts of the full version of the incident and the third one is the quick recap of the situation if you are in a rush.

Now that I gave the quick recap here are my thoughts.  Ryan Moats handled himself incredibly, I can't imagine being in the situation and pray to never be, but I think I would be in jail or dead right now if I was him because I would have attacked that scumbag Powell.  What a fucking racist fucking scumbag.  Moats went about the whole situation from start to finish the right way, your hazard lights are meant for emergencies.  In this emergency situation he obeyed the law and got himself to the hospital as quick as possible in a safe manner.  He even slowed and made sure no other cars were coming before he continued thru the light.  What he should have done was told the cop he was going into the hospital and if he wants to shoot him he can, but then again no one wants to be shot and killed.  Powell should be hung and while he is chocking be stoned and shot at.  This cocksucker is what is wrong with America, why do people find it necessary to ruin other peoples lives.  Now I understand cops already get a bad rap for the most part, I mean no one likes getting tickets, like for fucking parking in a parking lot without having a permit 5 minutes before its OK to park there, but show some fucking sense and let the guy go say goodbye to his mother.

The incident now has taken the next step when Dallas Police chief sent Powell home with pay and told him to not come back until their investigation is over.  The chief also apologized for the pain caused to Moats and his family.  It seems that Powell might be headed out of the department or stuck do desk work that fucking Nazi bitch.  Moats responded saying he accepts the apology, but that does not mean he is able to forget what happened as he will never have that special moment with his mother in law and the chance to say goodbye.

Things like this piss me off (better than being pissed on).  What pisses me off as much as Powell, is the other cop on the scene.  How does he not step in remove Powell from the situation.  Why is no one asking that, there is more than one person to blame here they both need to be removed from the shield and sent to jail where they will be rapped and they will deserve everything they get.  So send hate mail to Powell today instead of this guy (if you wanna still post negative what the hell its enjoyable to read) and hopefully karma will catch up to him.  Things like this make me think we need the death penalty and this man should be killed.

Let me here what you think about the situation.

Before I go:

Fuck My Life is a hysterical website, if you haven't checked it out I highly recommend wasting time at work/class with that: fmylife.com

Yesterdays Quote: Inside Man

Todays Quote:"Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. If you don't start with that, what are you going to end up with? Fall head over heels. I say find someone you can love like crazy and who'll love you the same way back. And how do you find him? Forget your head and listen to your heart. I'm not hearing any heart. Run the risk, if you get hurt, you'll come back. Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love - well, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived."

Down to Four and Tiger's comeback

Hope everyone had a great weekend, as we unfortunately head into the week.

We are down to four in March Madness.  This weekend we saw the field of 16 get shrunk to the four teams that will be fighting for College Hoops supremacy and their one shining moment.  The bad news at least for this guy is Cuse lost on Friday to Oklahoma, being in a bar with it packed with all Syracuse people was a good atmosphere.  That is until we started loosing then everyone was miserable, and giving up way to quickly.  Besides Ivler and myself it seemed like everyone else had given up on us once we went down big.  I guess everyone else was right, but hey stick with it till the end.

The two biggest "upsets" of the weekend was Missouri beating Memphis by 11 and Nova on Saturday beating Pittsburgh.  Now it is hard to call Villanova an upset since they were the #3 seed and play Pittsburgh during the regular season and are very familiar with them.  The action got better on Saturday and Sunday when we saw Michigan State upset the #1 overall seed, Louisville and punch their ticket to the Final Four.  Then we saw UNC man handle the best player in the country and Oklahoma.  The last ticket to Detroit is Uconn who handled business against Missouri.

The Final Four match ups are Uconn vs Michigan State and Villanova vs UNC.  It is set to be a great weekend of basketball and ultimately an incredible Monday.  There are 2 Big East teams heading to the Final Four and the debate should be over about which conference was the best this year.  3 #1 seeds, 5 Elite 8 Teams and now 2 Final Four teams.  There is no debate, Big 10 should not be mentioned in the conversation, and the ACC was very good but they are a tier below with out a doubt.

Today Tiger Woods in his 3rd event back after having knee surgery was five strokes back heading into the final round.  However, Tiger wouldn't be Tiger without his Sunday Magic, and it was out today.  A back and forth battle found Tiger tied with O'hara heading into the final hole and with both on the green with birdie opportunities O'hara missed a long putt just left and just short.  Thats when Tiger goes for the win and thats when the Tiger roar was heard as he hits his putt to win the tournament and head into the Masters with a victory.  It was an impressive round for Tiger and he becomes the favorite for the Masters.

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend....

Before I go:

The common thread was The Royal Tenenbaums, Glover in Angels in the Outfield; Stiller in Along Came Polly and Luke Wilson in Anchorman.

Todays Quote: "My name is Dalton Russell. Pay strict attention to what I say because I choose my words carefully and I never repeat myself. I've told you my name: that's the Who. The Where could most readily be described as a prison cell. But there's a vast difference between being stuck in a tiny cell and being in prison. The What is easy: recently I planned and set in motion events to execute the perfect bank robbery. That's also the When. As for the Why: beyond the obvious financial motivation, it's exceedingly simple... because I can. Which leaves us only with the How; and therein, as the Bard would tell us, lies the rub."

Question of the day:  If you could be the best in the world at a sport which would it be?

HOLY LOST 3/26/09

It's Thursday and that means its time for our LOST review from Mos Jef.  I hope everyone enjoyed the ultimate bracket for music we had some great comments, I must say very creative.  Without further ado its time for HOLY LOST:

I always say that watching an hour of LOST, no matter what happens, is so enjoyable that it cannot be considered a bad episode. It cannot be considered a disappointment, because on it's worst day LOST is still better than say 24 or Heroes or any other show on its best day. I still feel that way, but it doesn't mean I can't get frustrated with this show for never answering questions. Ever. They're totally pulling a last-night-Sayid on us. Let it be known now, in a public forum, that I will force feed Cuse and Lindeloff LSD after next season if I don't hear exactly what I want to hear. I will pull up in an unmarked VW Bus, scoop them inside, drag them to self-storage unit in Syracuse, New York (in the winter, when no one can hear you scream) and make them talk.

Moving on, best line nominees:

"A 12-year-old Ben Linus brought me a chicken salad sandwich. How do you think I'm doing?" - Sayid, after clearly being dissatisfied with the quality of said chicken salad sandwich

"You know, together? Like you guys were?" - Hurley

"To put it quite simply, you're capable of things that most men aren't." - Ben Linus

My vote is the Ben Linus line, just because he delivers every line so well. Also, the deeper significance it holds. Quite simply, Ben Linus is just as capable as Sayid to kill. And he enjoys doing it. The thing is, only John Locke knows that Ben kills. He saw him kill the big dude with the bomb detonator on his 24-inch-python. He knows that he himself was killed. And then, of course, Ben killed the entire DI.

I also thoroughly enjoyed when Ben was getting beaten by his father. Note, I have some sympathy here, b/c if my kid looked like Ben I would totally backhand him at least twice a day. But it was great to see even Sayid, who hates Ben more than anyone probably, flinch at the site of a child being over powered by his father.

Another familiar actor, Ohad (is that his name?), the DI's torturer, was in Blade Runner, amongst other things. And thank you, VH1's The Drug Years, for informing me beforehand that the army explored the use of LSD as a truth serum back in the day.

Sayid tripping face--priceless. How come Hurley hasn't made any references to needing a joint, by the way? I think it's pretty clear that Hurley rocks the ganj. Wouldn't you expect him to ask around..."So does the DI 'grow' anything special?" Or..."This ranch dressing is great...but it would be even greater if..."

Sayid drinking the same scotch as Widmore and Desmond drank. Yea, you pompous fucking creators. You can link that shit back together but you can't answer why Walt's so special or why Libby was in the mental institution with Hurley? And mind you, now that our Bounty Hunter is in the year _____ w/ Ben and Locke, the speech that Sayid gave her on the plane regarding how awful Ben is as a human being, will definitely go into her decision making from here on out.

Clearly there was only one thing in this episode truly worth analyzing (hence the frustration from paragraph one) but something else irked me. Maybe I'm wrong here, but what did Ben do to really piss Sayid off? Sayid killed people for Ben. Ben then came to him when more people needed killing (outside Hurley's institution.) What did Sayid expect from him? I don't think we're missing any pieces to the puzzle. So am I alone in thinking that Sayid has no reason to be on the "I hate Ben" band wagon? He told him to kill. He killed voluntarily. Went to South America to star in Extreme Home Makeover. Was told to kill again. Did so. Shows up in the harbor. Hates Ben.

And now the big finale...Ben's shot in the chest. He's not dead. This is what happened. It's not as if this is a new time line and Old Ben doesn't exist. Old Ben remembers being shot. It might be worth going back and watching the first time Old Ben (then Henry Gale) encounters Sayid (about to get tortured in the hatch.) Is there a hint of recognition? Is there a hint of fear? I love the parallel nature of Sayid being caught and lying to Ben, "I came here for you." This is the very same line Ben used on John Locke to get free...

Is Ben being shot possibly related to the toomer he develops later? In the coming attractions Kate flips out saying "We did this." Meaning them coming back forced what they assume to be as changing the past. But in reality they're not changing anything. Whatever they do from here on out is what happened in the 70s. So Jack, feeling guilty, steps up. "I'm a doctor. I can save Ben." This will bring up more questions later, but for now at least Ben is saved. Does he screw up the surgery? Is that why the toomer happens? And then Ben, finding Dr. Jack later, knows he's the only one who can rectify his surgery mistake.

Or have there been experiments going on the island? So far, it doesn't appear that the island has any healing powers. Nor does it have any defects in the baby-making process. Does Horace flip a switch? Or experiment with the time traveling abilities in the Orchid station to save Ben's life? Perhaps this is the first time they do this and in the process unleash the healing powers of the island, but also screw up the final stage of pregnancy.

Do they take Ben to the Hostiles for help? Richard recognizes Ben as the kid who saw the image of his mother, which impressed him all those years ago, and decides that he needs to use Jacob, or the island, or whatever, to save the kid. Whatever happens, being shot at someone that you later learn is part of Flight 815 is enough to have you hold a grudge for the rest of your life.

For serious you guys, "Too many questions."
-mos jef

Another great recap and review by Mos Jef.

Before I go:

Great college basketball continues tomorrow and continues to the end of the weekend.  By Sunday night we will be down to our Final Four.

Yesterdays Quote was Anchorman
The Three Movies that make up the common thread are: Anchorman, Along Came Polly and Angels in the Outfield.  The idea of the game is to now find something they all have in common.  Remember the example: My Cousin Vinny, Analyze This, Wild Hogz the answer was Goodfellas due to Liota in Wild Hogz, Pesci in My Cousin Vinny and Deniro in Analyze This all together in Goodfellas.  Good Luck

Question of the day:  If you could visit one place in the world where would it be?

Have a great weekend....

Great Music Debate

For a very long time I have bashed the music of my generation.  I hate hearing people rap about their "grills" or  having people become famous because they have been shot multiple times.  That does not impress me and most of the music just is not that good.  I would rather listen to a guitar solo by Clapton or Harrison.  Now I am not saying that there are no good musicians left, there are some great ones who have set a landscape of music that people listen to.  As we move forward in time and young kids listen to Brittney Spears who shaves her head, goes nuts, comes back and sings a song call F U Seek Amy because it sounds like Fuck Me is nuts.  Or we have these young kids listening to a drug addict singing about how she is not going to rehab and is showing kids that it is ok to become an addict because you might end up rich and famous.  We must pass along the songs of The Beatles, The Who, The Stones, etc.  The timeless debate though is who is the best, well with it being March and that means NCAA tournament and the brackets its time for A Blog About Nothing's Ultimate Bracket.  It is time to find out what group/musician is the best throughout the history of music.

There are 4 regions each with 16 teams in them for a total of 64 teams.  The four brackets are: Vinyl, Cassets, CDs and Itunes.

Region: Vinyl
(1) The Beatles vs (16) Green Day
This is not really much of a matchup, Green Day should just be happy to be here.  The Beatles have more classics and number one hits than Green Day has songs.  Lets move past this because it just isn't close

(8) Bob Dylan vs (9) Johnny Cash
Two great musicians going at it in the classic 8 vs 9 matchup.  Johnny Cash might get more of the nod of late thanks to the movie about his life, however this guy isn't buying into it.  Bob Dylan still kicking in concerts might be hard to understand and might be too cracked out for his own good but the higher seed wins here.  Bob Dylan just has too many songs that are still classic hits.  The Hurricane moves on this time

(5) Eric Clapton vs (12) Kanye West
Kanye West has helped revolutionize concerts and music now a days, but Clapton is one of the greatest guitarists of all time.  Not only is he an incredible musician he also wrote a song about George Harrison's wife and then took her from him, you might know the song....Layla

(4) Michael Jackson vs (13) Prince
The battle of the two homosexual musicians of all time.  They can be brought to court for touching little boys.  But I am going with the King of Pop Michael Jackson.

(6) Queen vs (11) Aerosmith
We will We will Rock you vs Walk this Way.  Two great bands, but this one has to go to Queen its not often you write a song that is played at every sports arena and at the end of every sports season.  Aerosmith gets a bad draw here, against many other bands/musicians they are moving on, but their tourny ends here.

(3) Jimi Hendrix vs (14) Puff Daddy
One of these men steal beats and the other is tripped on acid, lighting his guitar on fire and playing the star spangled banner....you try to tell me Hendrix isn't moving on.

(7 )  Stevie Wonder vs (10) Meatloaf
Now Stevie Wonder is talented hands down, I give the man tons of credit for having the amount of success he has with the disability he has.  However, Meatloaf created the rock ballad that so many other bands has used as the blueprint for success.  MOM THE MEATLOAF!

(2) The Rolling Stones vs (15) Sublime
Sublime ended their great run of incredible music way to early, and the longevity of the Stones takes them to the next round in this one.

Round 2 of the Vinyl Region
(1) The Beatles vs (8) Bob Dylan
What a round 2 matchup up, this is must listen music right here, but Bob Dylan is gunna need some Help here to knock out the band from Liverpool.  Dylan is blowing in the wind out of this tournament.  The Beatles move on.

(5) Clapton vs (4) Michael Jackson
King of Pop vs a guitar legend.  Jackson must be spending to much time with little boys on his ranch because this is a snoozer for the 4 vs 5 matchup.  Clapton heads to the next round

(3) Hendrix vs (6) Queen
We are the champions is good but it does not get you past Hendrix.  Queen heads home for some bicycle races.

(2) Rolling Stones vs (10) Meatloaf
If Meatloaf didnt have to face the Stones here they probably are moving on, but like a Bat out of Hell they are heading home and The Stones are going on.

Round 3 of Vinyl Region

(1) The Beatles vs (5) Clapton
The Long and Winding Road is too much for Cocaine here.  Clapton is incredible, his songs are incredible and his rifts are incredible.  However, it is the Beatles and they have just too many hits to be taken out here they'll be headed to the Elite 8

(2) The Rolling Stones vs (3) Hendrix
The Rolling Stones still kicking it into the 60's gets them into this one.  They might not be the best but longevity goes a long way.  Hendrix's run ends in the Sweet 16

Round 4 of Vinyl Region
(1) The Beatles vs (2) The Rolling Stones
The clash of the titans, two of the greatest groups of all time, but the Beatles came first and the Beatles move on.  Rolling Stones can't always get what they want and they wont here.

VINYL REGION CHAMP: (1) THE BEATLES

Round 1 Cassette Region

(1) Led Zeppelin vs (16) TI
If there was a play in game TI would be there and might not make it any further.  Led moves on easy in this one.

(8) The Doors vs (9) Phish
Great matchup here, however I have to give the edge to Phish, the following they have is what gets them over the top here.  This is the end for The Doors

(5) Aretha Franklin vs (12) Elton John
Aretha is the Queen, but Sir Elton John moves on here.  Maybe it is because Aretha is a little too far back there and now looks like a beast, but the Rocket Man moves on here pretty easily.  The classic (12) over (5) matchup.

(4) Madonna vs (13) Dave Matthews Band
The first big upset of the tournament.  DMB over Madonna, now if she was still normal like back in her A League of Their Own  time frame she would easily move on, but she just got a little too weird.  Time to go home Madonna

(6) Nirvana vs (11) Run DMC
Run DMC revolutionized hip hop and is way to much of a matchup for Nirvana, Enough Said.

(3) The Who vs (14) The Ramones
The British invasion is too much for the Ramones.  Its the Who's generation and their time to move past the Ramones.

(7) Dr. Dre vs (10) Chuck Berry
Chuck helped revolutionize the music we hear today, but Dr. Dre is much more than a rapper.  He has built an empire of great talent.  Dr. Dre sends a legend home

(2) Jay-Z vs (15) NAS
NAS is an incredible musician, more than just a rapper. However when you have to go against one of the most powerful people in music today you aren't going to get very far.  NAS has a hard knock draw in this tournament and heads home a little too early.

Round 2 of Cassette Region
(1) Led Zeppelin vs (9) Phish
Phish just can't get out of Led's Maze.  This one is too much for Phish and Led gets thru them pretty easily.

(12) Elton John vs (13) DMB
Tiny Dancer digs DMB grave here.  Sir Elton John continues his cinderella run into round 3.

(3) The Who vs (11) Run DMC
The Who is way to tough for the kings of Hip Hop.  Longevity and Teenage Wasteland carry the Who to the next round.

(2) Jay-Z vs (7) Dr. Dre
Dr. Dre is good but not good enough to get past Jay-Z.  This one was closer than I would think but Ill let Beyonnce be the reason Jay-Z moves on.

Round 3 Cassette Region
(1) Led Zeppelin vs (12) Elton John
Get the Lead out.  Sir Elton John is no match for the Wanton Song.  Rocket Man blasts out of this tourny

(2) Jay-Z vs (3) The Who
Jay-Z owns a piece of the Nets, owns a clothing line and changed the rap game as we know it.  He is the most powerful person in music currently and sends the Red Coats back to England.

Round 4 Cassette Region
(1) Led Zeppelin vs (2) Jay-Z
Jay-Z makes a run into the Elite 8, but thats where his run will end.  He cant match Led Zeppelin, which is one of the greatest bands of all time.  Led and the immigrants move on to the final 4.

CASSETTE REGION CHAMPS: LED ZEPPLIN

CD Region

(1) Tupac vs (16) Slick Rick
Tupac is just a far superior matchup for Slick Rick.  Rick goes home early in this one.

(8)Pink Floyd vs (9) The Eagles
I dont know about everyone else but The Eagles just piss me off.  THey are good dont get me wrong but they get way too much credit.  Pink Floyd is incredible end of story.

(5)Bruce and the E-Street Band vs (12) Bon Jovi
The Battle of NJ: Asbury vs Rutherford.  Bruce is just too much for Bon Jovi.  Bruce is heading to the next round.

(4) Bob Marley vs (13) Wycleff
Anytime there are rumors that your death was a conspiracy by the Government you are a powerful person.  Marley moves on, Wycleff will be gone till November.

(6) Billy Joel vs (11) Sting and the Police
The Entertainer vs the Tree hugger.  Sting cant match the Piano Man, even with the Police they are not enough.

(3) Frank Sinatra vs (14) REM
Frank Sinatra is the original entertainer, he took music to a whole different level.  You cant let the chairman of the board exit in the first round.  REM its the end of the world for you.

(7) The Allman Brothers vs (10) Gun's and Roses
The Allman Brothers are simply incredible  They are still kicking it at the Beacon every summer and still sell out.  Gun's and Roses argue to much and make their fans suffer, hit the road.

(2) Justin Timberlake vs (15) John Mayer
If Mayer hadn't broken up with Aniston he may have had a chance at this one.  Timberlake is the new king of pop.  He moved past NSYNC pretty quickly and has become an icon in music.  Timberlake moves on.

Round 2 of CD region
(1) Tupac vs (8) Pink Floyd
Tupac may or may not be dead, but in this tournament he is a goner.  Pink Floyd is just too tough and Tupac just becomes another brick in the wall of Floyd.

(5) Bruce and The E-Street Band vs (4) Bob Marley
This could be a hometown pick but Bruce moves on.  Marley's music is relaxing and happy, but Bruce just brings you to the good ol' days.

(3) Sinatra vs (6) Billy Joel
The original Entertainer against the new one.  The Angry young man prevails against the Chairman.  Billy Joel is just an incredible performer and maybe it's because i never saw Sinatra, but my vote Joel.

(2) Timberlake vs (7) The Allman Brothers
Timberlake again is just too much for anyone so far.  The new King of Pop teams up with talented musicians and turns ok songs into great ones.

Round 3 of CD Region
(8) Pink Floyd vs (5) Bruce
Pink Floyd's cinderella run continues to the elite 8.  Bruce is great, but they do not have the following of Pink Floyd.

(2) Timberlake vs (6) Billy Joel
Almost giving an elite 8 matchup of an 8 vs 6, this one goes the other way and Timberlake moves on once again easily.  The performer tops the piano man.

Round 4 CD Region
(2) Timberlake vs (8) Pink Floyd
In Timberlakes first big matchup he is sent home.  Pink Floyd's run continues, they are just too good with Sid or without.

CD REGION CHAMPS: PINK FLOYD

Itunes Region Round 1

(1) Notorious BIG vs (16) Linkin Park
The boys from Chi-town are no match for Big Poppa.  The kid from Brooklyn moves on easily.

(8) The Red Hot Chili Peppers vs (9) Ozzy Osbourne
Ozzy can bite the head off of a bat but cant handle a Chili Pepper.  RHCP moves on past the prince of Darkness.

(5) The Grateful Dead vs (12) Foo Fighters
Garcia is not going down in the first round no matter what.  The Foo Fighters havent learned to fly yet cause they go down in round 1.

(4) AC/DC vs (13) Lynard Skynard
This might be one of the best first round matchups.  I have to give it to a band down under.  AC/DC too much for Sweet Home Alabama.

(6) LL Cool J vs (11) Eminem
LL Cool J helped define hip hop, but Eminem took it to another level and as a white kid from Detroit he some how pulls the upset over the man from the bronx.

(3) Elvis Presely vs (14) Simon and Garfunkel
The King of Music tops Simon and Garfunkel very easily, the King has not left the building yet.

(7) Snoop Dog vs (10) Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Snoop Dog gets to high to compete and forfeits to TP and the Heartbreakers

(2) U2 vs (15) Van Halen
U2 is more than just a band, Bano helps the world it seems more than any leader, ya he can be annoying but he is a good samaritan.

Round 2 Itunes Region

(1) BIG vs (8) Red Hot Chili Peppers
BIG left us too young, but he wont leave us in this tournament yet, BIG moves on.

(4) AC/DC vs (5) Grateful Dead
AC/DC is too much for the Grateful Dead. Angus Young in a school outfit playing guitar as he spins in a circle is too much for the Dead.  Sorry Dead Heads.

(3) Elvis Presely vs (11) Eminem
The King has left the building early in this tournament and the tough kid from Detroit goes on.

(2) U2 vs (10) TP and the Heart Breakers
U2 just too good and sends TP free falling out of this tournament.

Round 3 Itunes Region

(1) BIG vs (4) AC/DC
AC/DC heads on the highway to hell as they are eliminated from this tournament.  BIG moves on

(2) U2 vs (11) Eminem
Once again U2 is too good on the stage and off and they send the hooligan from Detroit on his way.

Round 4 Itunes Region
(1) BIG vs (2) U2
U2's run is over as Big Poppa stomps them out, maybe similar to how they did Tupac.

ITUNES REGION CHAMPS: NOTORIOUS BIG

Final Four:

(1) The Beatles vs (1) B.I.G
The Beatles are too much for a rapper.  They entertain most of the world still today.  B.I.G. time is up.  Let it be Notorious, Let it be.

(1) Led Zeppelin vs (8) Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd has a hell of a run but just like George Mason, the clock strikes midnight.  We all wish they were here, but Led Zeppelin is too strong.

Championship:
(1) The Beatles vs (1) Led Zepplin
The two greatest bands of all time.  They survived the test of time as they are still popular today as they were any other time.  Rap, Hip Hop, R&B, Punk they all cant match up to the Classic Rock era which was headlined by these two bands.  However, one stands above the rest: Ringo, George, John and Paul.  The Beatles is this guys greatest band ever.  Let me know what you think take the poll on the side of our final four to see who should be the champion.

BEFORE I GO:

Todays Quote:"Oh Audrey - I look like hell! I got bags under my eyes. What's that? Well if you were a man, I'd punch you. Punch you right in the mouth. That's bush. Bush league. YOU HEAR ME? AUDREY! LOOK AT ME! I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Alright?"

Question of the day:  Who would you have preform in your dream concert. An opening act and main act.

What the Fuck Facebook

This rant is a long time coming, even before I started to write A Blog About Nothing.  I was against Facebook from the beginning until I was signed up by two of my friends.  Since then I have spent my fair share of time on the site, looking at pictures and what not just like the rest of you I am sure.  It is addicting at times and all of a sudden you realize you have been on for a while and do not know where you actually started.  Well there are two things that no piss the shit out of me about Facebok.

Why fix something if it is not broken.  Teams always do this and I always wonder why, Lakers win 3 championships and are in a total of 4 that's when Kobe decides he does not need Shaq the teams breaks them up and there goes the championships.  DON'T FIX WHAT'S NOT BROKEN!  Everyone is enjoying Facebook and they go ahead and change the whole front page on us.  What the fuck, one day everything is nicely organized with updates, pictures, events and birthdays.  The next day we have to deal with garbage, random wall posts and status' are all over the place.  Does anyone like this new nonsense?  I still haven't figured out where to find anything and I am quickly getting back to the part of  me that never wanted to be part of this Facebook addiction.

However, it wouldn't be that bad if that was all that was wrong with Facebook, but that is the creators fault.  My next hated thing is caused by the members of Facebook.  Why do people find it necessary to always update their status.  BREAKING NEWS:  no one cares that you are out looking for an apartment, or that you are tired and going to sleep, or your off and don't know what to do on your day off.  Stop bragging that in the worst economic time your house hunting or that you have a day off.  Stop being so egotistical that you think everyone needs to know what you are doing at all times.  NO ONE GIVES A FUCK!  Now I do not want to be a hypocrite, as I recently have been putting up status's to get people to head to the blog.  However, you will not find me saying things as they happen in my life.  What is worse is it seems like these people are updating their status as they are doing whatever they are doing.  Grow up and get on with your life.  Stop wasting time letting everyone know what you are doing and go out and do it.  If they need you they will call you or text you and ask what you are doing.  The world does not need to know about your nonsense.

Lastly, this whole new IM feature that they have drives me nuts.  Now, if I do not have your screen name and you want to catch up, or we just became friends on it then I am all for it.  However, if we talk on AIM or ICHAT or whatever other platforms we do not need to have a whole conversation on Facebook.  It forces me to be on the site for longer than I need to be and usually I end up forgetting about my conversation and heading to another site.  We survived for the past 10 years not having Facebook instant message I think we can survive now without it.

Who am I kidding though, I'll still spend way too much time looking at peoples pictures and their updates even with all this nonsense.  I'll find out that people are having much more fun then I am and once again I will remember why I hate Facebook.

Before I go:

The new movie quote game, Common Thread has the following rules: there will be a different movie quote for 3 days. After those 3 days and 3 movies you will need to figure out what the common thread is. Here is an example: Day one movie quote is: My Cousin Vinny; Day 2 quote is: Analyze This and the third day is Wild Hogz. The common thread would be: Goodfellas, here is how: My Cousin Vinny has Joe Pesci; Analyze this: Deniro and Wild Hogz: Liotta. They were all in Goodfellas. It is a simple game and here comes day 2 of it:

Yesterdays Movie: Angels in the outfield

Todays quote:"It's not about what happened in the past, or what you think might happen in the future. It's about the ride, for Christ's sake. There is no point in going through all this crap, if your are not going to enjoy the ride. And you know what... when you least expect something great might come along. Something better then you even planned for. "

Question of the day:  If you could go on tour with one band in history which would it be?

#1 Hated Person in Sports....At Least For This Guy

Before I get going in my rant let me start by saying that anything I say in this blog I would never actually do with that being said:

There are many teams and players that have been hated in Syracuse Basketball history.  There is Vermont who in 2005 was the number 13 seed and beat #4 Syracuse.  Then there is John Thompson who declared Manly Field House officially closed.  You might want to earmuff the next  one if you bleed Orange, but still giving most fans nightmares is Keith Smart who in 1987 hit the game winner in the NCAA Championship against Cuse.  But lately there is a new man who is becoming the most hated person in Syracuse:

No, I am not referring to Eddie Munster, that show was a great one.  However, this man looks eerily similar the most hated person in Syracuse has become:

Yes Doug Gottlieb has become the most hated man.  Recently I was being interviewed and the question was asked of If I could kill one person in the world who would it be.  Without even thinking it is this man.  I am not alone in this answer as most sports fans in Syracuse will agree.   Gottlieb is nothing more than a bum, he got a scholarship to Notre Dame and after a very very small stint he was kicked out of school for stealing his roommates credit card and charged hundreds of dollars.  Then he went to Ok State where unfortunately he had himself a pretty decent career.  Wow that was way to much of a compliment for this scumbag so lets follow that with this clip:

After that and a small stint with development leagues a convicted criminal found a job with ESPN as a whinny Jew who sits behind a desk and talks about a game that he claims to have knowledge about.  First off, how does ESPN hire this man and 2nd there are people that think he is the best college basketball analyst out there, to those people it is time to take some sort of IQ test because you might be mentally challenged.

Trying to make a name for himself the douche called out the Big East, just the best conference in College Basketball for being soft and having a "cupcake" opening schedule.  Well, unfortunately for him, he ran into a coach with I don't know 799 wins and hopefully on the brink of 800.  Jim Boeheim had this to say after this horrible claim: "They don’t know what they’re talking about so I don’t pay much attention to them. … One guy in particular was in our league for a minute or two but he couldn't play in it. He seems to do the most talking, probably because he wasn’t a very good player and he’s not very smart about basketball."

If you couldn't figure it out, that kid who was in the Big East for a minute and not a very smart person is Doug Gottlieb.  How does anyone ever bash Boeheim.

There then is the fans who let Gottlieb know just how much we hate him.  The following conversation took place during a Gottlieb chat:

Jables (NY): Has anyone ever told you that you look like Eddie from “The Munsters”?

Doug Gottlieb: (4:03 PM ET ) Yes, as a kid, and yet I am still on TV…

Mike Indiana: How did your mediocre basketball career prepare you for a mediocre broadcasting career?

Doug Gottlieb: (4:04 PM ET ) So your mediocre life can prepare you for a mediocre afterlife…and by the way, which one of us works for ESPN…
hey and next time…when I you say 30 minutes or less….get here on time with my pizza.

John (Notre Dame): Doug, I lost my credit card, where were you last night?

SportsNation Doug Gottlieb: (4:27 PM ET ) Ask your mom.

Johns Mom (Notre Dame): GOTTLIEB I KNOW YOU STOLE MY SON’S CREDIT CARD!

SportsNation Doug Gottlieb: (4:34 PM ET ) Ten years ago I made a mistake…and payed for it…18 years ago YOU WERE your parents mistake and they are still paying for it.

Amen to John and John's mom giving it to Satan himself.  The man is building a following of such hatred that rivals world leaders, the bully in school, the Ice Cream man who wouldn't stop even after you were running behind it (THAT GUY SAW ME I KNOW IT).  On Facebook there are currently 12 groups with ill will towards this asshole:  Doug Gottlieb: Jerkoff (22 members); Fire Doug Gottlieb (42 members); Raid Doug Gottlieb (14); I hate Doug Gottlieb (7); Fuck Off Doug Gottlieb (7); Doug Gottlieb Has No Penis (15); Doug Gottlieb is a Douche (15); Fuck Doug Gottlieb-True Syracuse Hater (132); Doug Gottlieb is a Piece of Shit (32); Doug Gottlieb is the biggest douchebag in the world (332); Petition to get Doug "Syracuse Hater" Gottlieb off ESPN (36); Digger Phelps and Doug Gottlieb have no idea what they are talking about (58).   Are there even that many groups against Bush?

The man is a piece of shit, and I don't want to hear that he does not rip Syracuse, because this man even when he says words of praise about Cuse bball he follows it with some type of jab.  For example, Great win for the Cuse, but I dont think they have the mental toughness to move on.   Subtle yes, but us Cuse fans know what he is doing.

However, there is one facebook group of praise for Doug Gottlieb:  I'm From Syracuse and I'm no Doug Gottlieb hater! (17).  Can we go back to stoning people?  I think in this situation bring back this Medival form of punishment.  These people deserve it, I beg the people in Syracuse currently seek out these people and find out if they are related, mentally challenged, or as big of douchebags as Doug Gottlieb... then throw rocks at them for a while.

As you have now learned I hate this man and I hope you all do too.  He is a thief, turd, douche, whinny bum.  I loose a little respect for ESPN every time I see him on the screen.  He also always looks like he has spit on the side of his mouth.  Grow up and learn how to speak while keeping your spit on the inside cock sucker!

Before I go:

First I want to thank Brad Wellen for his suggestions for good reads during the day.  I hope people will continue to give their suggestions.

I will be doing something new instead of the movie quote.  For those who have known me for a while may remember the Common Thread game I used to put up as my away messages, well it is back.  For those that do not know the rules or need to be reminded, there will be a different movie quote for 3 days. It is a simple game and here comes day 1 of it:

First Movie Quote:"He could stand up right now and tell you what's going on and I'd know you'd just laugh at him. But, when a professional football player drops to one knee to thank God for making a touchdown, nobody laughs at that. Or when a pitcher crosses himself before going to the mound, no one laughs at that either. It's like your saying it's okay to believe in God, but it's not okay to believe in angels. Now, I thought that they were on the same team."

Question of the day;  Again this is hypothetical and does not have any actual meaning.  If you could get away with murder who would you go after?

Let me know some good websites to read and post your comments.

Welcome Back

Hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather and the most amazing time of the year for sport fans.

March Madness started Thursday night and was just great basketball, top teams for the most part won there were only 3 lower seeded teams that won and for the most part they weren't huge upsets: Maryland beat Cal and Michigan beat Clemson to show the world why the belonged in the tournament.  With no huge upsets and people started to question when it was going to happen....well that's when Friday came around.  Well around 11:00pm on Friday the big upset happened, Cleveland State beat Wake Forest who at one point this season was number one in the country.  The game reminded all of us why this tourny is so great.  The weekend continued to provide great basketball and we are now into the sweet 16.  Syracuse heads into the sweet 16 and continues to grow Jimmy's win total now at 799 and hopefully can get number 800 next Friday night against Oklahoma.

Moving on to the weekend in review I saw I Love You Man.  I thought it was a very funny movie and highly recommend it.  Paul Rudd is hysterical and I heard most of his quick liners in this movie were completely improve and he is really really funny.  The movie was one of the funnier movies I have seen in a while.  This group of Rudd, Rogan, Segal, Hill are starting to put themselves on the map like the frat pack and the many other groups of actors.  They just put out funny movie after funny movie and the previews that played before I Love You Man were great, 2 containing Rogan.  One was Year One with Cerca and Black with many other people in it and it looks hysterical.  The other one was Rogan, Hill and Adam Sandler I forogot the name of it but it seems like a serious comedy (oxymoron I know).   Last was Rogan as a mall cop again I don't remember the name but looks great.  Go see I Love You Man, you'll laugh and enjoy it I promise.

Few other things, I need good websites to go to everyday.  I need good reads at work and there are only like 3 sites I go to now during the day and its usually CNN, Profootballtalk.com and Variety.  I need more shit and I am asking on the readers to help me out with this.  If there are websites you go to all the time or other blogs you read please post a comment and give me the name of that.  Whenever I find something good I will be sure to post them for all of you.

2nd Episode of Kings was tonight and the show continues to entertain and I will certainly continue to watch.  I recommend you watching it, if you haven't seen the first episode watch it on NBC.com or Hulu.com and take a look its still really early in the series to not fall too behind.

Before I go:

Movie quote from Thursday was Pulp Fiction.

Todays Quote:" I'll tell it to the hot, I'll tell it to the cold. I'll tell it to the young, I'll tell it to the old. I don't want no laughin', I don't want no cryin', and most of all, no signifyin'. This is Petey Greene's Washington."

Question of the Day:  If you could commit a crime and not get caught what would it be?

HOLY LOST is Back

Before we get to HOLY LOST lets review day one of March Madness.

Yours Truly went : 9 for 16 on the games against the spread.  I was 0-2 on the best bets of the day.

Here are my picks for Friday , day 2 of the first rounds:

Utah -1.5 vs Arizona: Ill talk the points and take Arizona to win outright

Wake Forest -8 vs Cleveland State:  I love Cleveland State, but Wake Forest is too tough theyll cover

Cuse -11.5 vs Stephen Austin:  Stone Cold is not enough for Cuse, I'll take Cuse

Arizona State -5.5 vs Temple:  Arizona State can make noise in this tourny and Temple is getting too much love right here.

Louisville -20.5 vs Morehead St.:  Well we can all use Morehead, but Louisville is no match they cover easy

Ohio State -3 vs Siena:  Ohio State covers but barely, might win by 4

Pitt -19.5 vs E. Tenn. St.:  Pitt is covering by halftime and never looks back

Tennesse -2 vs Oklahoma State:  I like Ok State and the points, SEC is overrated

Michigan State -16.5 vs Robert Morris:  Robert is no match for MSU, but dont expect MSU to last much longer in the dance.

USC -2.5 vs Boston College:  USC is just flat better than BC and only 2.5 points is basically a pick em, I'll take BC

Kansas -9.5 vs North Dakota State:  Please show Kansas some respect, this spread is too low, I'll take Kansas

West Virginia -9 vs Dayton:  If WVU gets hot they cover easy, but I'll take em to cover regardless

Missouri -12.5 vs Cornell:  Maybe its just the upsate NY love I have, but I will take Cornell to cover, loose but cover

Marquette -4.5 vs Utah State: The spread is too low take Marquette

Florida State -2.5 vs Wisconsin:  Wisconsin wins this outright take the points.

Xavier -10.5 vs Portland State:  I like the X-men to win this, they may cover.

Best Bets: Kansas, Michigan State, Pitt, Louisville

And NOW on to HOLY LOST.....ITS BACK:
In an episode seemingly lacking in a "go to" line of the night, I leave it up to you. And the nominees are.

Jin Kwan for his work and feigning the tough guy in the jungle. "Say another word and you're dead."

Jim LaFleur and the Doc for their regular old 'pick-up from the airport' convo. "Faraday? He's here?" "Not anymore." Might as well have been LaFleuer pointing out a local burrito shack that makes the best fish tacos in town. He'll take them there after they drop off their bags and settle in. Their mango salsa cannot be beat anywhere. Count on it.

The Asian Video Doctor for his sticking it to Jack. “Based on your aptitude test you’ll be doing janitorial work.” Good one LeFleur! (ooh, you’re a legend LeFleur!)

And lastly, Hugo Reyes for his work in saying what everyone was thinking to Jin.. "Dude, your English is awesome."

A little something a friend of mine, Joshua the Fagen, and I saw coming was the Project Runway reveal. Clearly the 1994 White Aztec (please excuse the Camp reference) building project that Sawyer and Kate were taking part in while in Others' captivity was the runway that Lapidis sees when the plane is going down. You remember the chain gang I'm talking about. Sawyer drops his pick axe, struts over to Kate, totally gets to first base with her, then takes the gun from the dude who Juliet shot on the beach. So now we don't know what year that was...but let's say it was 2004 as we all originally assumed being blatantly ignorant of the complexity of time jumping at the time. If we accept that as fact, then Sun, Ben, Lapidis and Caesar have landed the plane in the future; 2009? Beyond? By the way, hate to say "I told you so" that Caesar was looking in a station post DI's reign.

Something to remember--and I'm sure someone out there is nerdy enough to have looked this up-- what was the name that Sayid's guard whispered as she was coming to from the crash?

Ethan the baby throws off our whole "Richard was born on the island so he won't age" chatter. Clearly something else at play. But Ethan's existence makes it easier to believe that an older Ben could convince the little kids (Ethan among them. Goodwin also? The Sheriff? Gay Tom?) that he's special. It's like convincing a youngin' that there's a water polo hall of fame in Scranton, PA.

Is Faraday time jumping or is he dead? Did he volunteer to be part of one of Asian Doctor's experiments of time travel for the good of LeFleur's entourage? That's my guess. But I hope he's merked. Sweet justice would be if Adam Goldberg (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004965/) came on for a cameo and killed him, saying "You couldn't have shot that German dude while he was digging that hole and singing the wrong words to the National Anthem? He stabbed me in the chest! Slowly! Slow, painful chest stabbing because you were sympathetic of a Nazi in a Speilberg movie! You dick!"

Did it bother anyone else when Sawyer and Jin spoke openly on the walkie about Sayid? Jin ducks behind a wall and says "It's Sayid." Are we to believe on this huge island, only the two of them communicate by walkie talkie? I used to go skiing, my friends would have those ill walkie talkies, and we purposely would go on other people's channels to jump into random conversations. "Meet me at the top of Nor’Easter in half hour.” I imagine the folks on the receiving end of these pranks never showed, but I think it’s a useful example of why not to speak openly over walkie talkies about sensitive information, i.e. Genuine Iraqi Hostiles.

Real cool that Ben’s arm was healed once they crashed.

Can’t wait for LeFleur to slip up in his nick name rant and make some kind of 80’s or 90’s reference that the DI members just don’t’ get. Maybe that’s how…

Dean Gordon “Cheese” Prichard’s former assistant figures the whole dubious situation out. He clearly doesn’t trust our crew. And way to fuck it up for everyone Jack. “I’m looking for James.” Just cause the Boss (fuck Bruce Springsteen) shaved his beard doesn’t mean he’s not a fan of the nick names! You know he loves nick names! Besides, you were clearly instructed to call him LeFleur. Follow directions for once, Noah Wiley. Yea, you’re the equivalent of Noah Wiley in E.R. Not even LaSalle status, let alone Clooney, Anthony Edwards or new-wave Stamos.

In that sense, the sense that Jack is a fucking idiot, I agree that LeFleur was right about “thinking” before acting. At the same time, this is the first time I’ve ever had to say this to my favorite character: “I’m not mad, LeFleur. I’m just disappointed.” Honestly, Jack-o shows up, you barely fill him in on the last 3 years, he comes to talk about Sayid’s situation and you’re a total dick to him? I could see that being the case if he saw that Kate had written on Jack’s Facebook wall or something. But this attack was totally uncalled for. Read your book, think before you act. That’s all well and good. But let the Doc know about what you’ve learned since he’s been gone. Tell him about the Hostiles. Tell us about the Hostiles! And tell him about pre-pubescent Ben on the island…

Now I’ve been arguing this for a while…at least 3 episodes. I was convinced that Ben was not on the island yet. Convinced. Why? Because Juliet would’ve said something. Sawyer would have tried to kill him (which is exactly what Sayid is about to try and do.) But then at like the middle of the episode I knew I was wrong…as soon as LeFleur said “Farday’s has some interesting theories about what we can and can’t do.” Clearly Sawyer and Juliet meet little Ben, and Sawyer is about to go all “That’s for taking the kid off the boat” on him until Faraday has to explain things to him.

Speaking of PP Ben, finally a nice casting job by the team. This kid LOOKS like he could be Ben. A huge step up from the Jack’s grand dad debacle.

I liked the irony at the end of the episode. Ben greets Sayid in his cage, just as Sayid greeted Ben when he was locked in the Hatch’s gunnery. Clearly it’s gonna take time, a whole lotta precious time, for Ben to rise to status amongst the Hostiles, but I think we can believe that he’s made contact with Richard in the jungle at this point. His fascination with Sayid gives that away. Now it’s a matter of him convincing the right people that the DI must be wiped out, that he’s the dude that should be leader, that Ethan and Goodwin and whoever else should be allowed to come along for the ride.

Karma that the EP's of the best show ever are Lindelof and Cuse? Go Orange - Johnny Flynn is the Troof.

“Too many questions”

Before I go:

Yesterday's Movie Quote:  My Cousin Vinny, if you havent seen it get out of the country.

Todays Quote:  "Normally, both your asses would be dead as fucking fried chicken, but you happen to pull this shit while I'm in a transitional period so I don't wanna kill you, I wanna help you. But I can't give you this case, it don't belong to me. Besides, I've already been through too much shit this morning over this case to hand it over to your dumb ass."

Question of the day:  If you could live any where in the world where would it be?

Blinded By The Light...Or Stupidity

Before I start my rant of the day I want to preface this by saying I am not trying to be mean to anyone when I write this and not trying to be insensitive to any people, with that being said:

-The Midgets had Dewey Cox
-The Deaf had Beethoven
It is time for the Blind to have a new person on their side, no longer will it be Stevie Wonder....its time for me to help out.

What's the deal with their being braille on signs?  I have had this on my mind since 8th grade in middle school when I realized there braille on the lunch room sign.  Here is my beef, the blind do not know where the sign is and if they are feeling the wall they need to hit it exact or they wont even feel the sign.  So why put them up?

If you are to say that if someone is walking with the blind person they can put the hand on the sign, well if you say that your a fool.  If you put the hand on the sign what about the next time when you aren't there? I just do not see the sense of this, if you think this is a good idea please let me know why, cause I just do not get.  I say we put more things in the world that actually helps the blind.

They say that a blind person's other senses are enhanced why not come up with  new idea, like how about door smells.  Certain doors smell certain ways, for example any door for a kitchen, cafeteria, etc smells like blueberry pie, but just a small hint of it so that to the average smeller they might not actually smell it.  Maybe the art room smells like paint and etc, (bathroom wouldn't smell like shit, if you thought that your better than that we are talking about blind people DICKS)

It is time to move past these stupid signs that no one can read because they cant find them, move past this and do something that might be constructive and useful.  WHOSE WITH ME?

Moving past my rant........LET THE MADNESS BEGIN!!

Tomorrow is the first day of the tournament and like every day there is a blog and their are games upcoming I will be making my picks and shoot the shit about some great games.  So without further ado:

Duke -21.5 vs Binghamton:  My pick is Duke, this isnt going to be close going into the half and isn't getting much better for Binghamton come the second half.

Texas -4 vs Minnesota:  Texas is winning this game and I like them in the next round vs Duke

UNC -25 vs Radford:  UNC enough said

LSU -2 vs Butler:  I like Butler, but LSU has this one wrapped up with about 5 min left and then is going to head to the foul line to seal this spread.

Uconn -20.5 Tenn Chattanooga:  If TO was still on Tenn. they might have a chance to cover this spread, however he is in Buffalo and Tenn has no prayer.

BYU -2.5 vs Texas A&M: Texas wins this game outright

Nova -16.5 vs American:  I am all about being patriotic, but Nova playing in Philly destroys American in this one.

UCLA -7.5 Vs VCU:  UCLA is going to win this game, but its going to be a lot closer than people think, bet on VCU

Memphis -19.5 Vs CS Northridge:  Memphis plays games like this all season, once again they cover

Cal -1.5 vs Maryland: Maryland wins this outright, they have to much to prove and will handle business in the first round.

Oklahoma -16.5 Vs Morgan State:  Oklahoma wins this game easy, but not easy enough to cover this spread, I say they win by 14, bet on Morgan State.

Clemson -5.5 Vs Michigan:  Maize and Blue take this one outright...bet on Michigan

Purdue -8.5 vs Northern Iowa:  Boilermakers win this one going away...take Purdue

Washington -6 VS Miss. State:  This one could be a buzzer beater so I think Washington wins but bet on Miss. State

Illinois -5 Vs Western Kentucky:  Two years in a row Western Kentucky will have an upset, bet on Western Kentucky +5.

Gonzaga -13 vs Akron:  Zaga plays these type of teams all year and cover most of the time, no different tonight.  Bet on Gonzaga

Bet of the day: Gonzaga and Memphis

Take a look at the top ten buzzer beaters in March Madness history, this should get us all in the mood for the Madness:

Before I go:

Yesterdays Movie Quote:  Boondock Saints, incredible movie watch it.

Todays Movie Quote: " Imagine you're a deer. You're prancing along. You get thirsty. You spot a little brook. You put your little deer lips down to the cool, clear water - BAM. A fuckin' bullet rips off part of your head. Your brains are lying on the ground in little bloody pieces. Now I ask ya, would you give a fuck what kind of pants the son-of-a-bitch who shot you was wearing?"

Question of the Day:  If you lost one of your senses which would you most prefer it to be?

HOLY LOST returns tomorrow.

Luck of the Irish

Erin Go Bragh

Happy St. Patty's day to all my Irish readers as well as anyone else who needed an excuse to drink today.

This is a great holiday especially with the world we are currently living in.  What better than to have a day where people are expected to drink.  Things can't seem to get much worse now a days and stress seems to be building up on everyone.  Everyone is getting tired of the mess and shit we are going to and today so what better than to drink some green beer *how do they get it green?, watch a parade, have an Irish car bomb, dress in green and make a fool of yourself with friends.  Now some might say due to it being on a Tuesday that we loose some of the effect, well first most of us have probably celebrated already, but even if we have drinking in the middle of the week makes it that much easier to get through it.

For the first time today I had cabbage and corn beef, I have had both separately but never together and I must say it is pretty good.  I also had some Sheppard pie felt like a real Irishmen, hey us Jews can enjoy other holidays, its not all gefilte fish and matzoh.  I drank some harp had some laughs.

Those of you still in college being degenerate I am jealous and so is everyone else and hope you are enjoying your day of drinking and partying.  If you are in college and not partying wake up cause your wasting your time.  For those in the real world I hope you enjoyed your day of well drinking but dreading work tomorrow.  For the Irish of Notre Dame you are a disgrace to the Irish barely beating UAB in the NIT give me  a break.

By the way still on St. Patrick's day, what the fuck is this whole thing about pinching anyone not wearing green?  When did this start and why haven't I heard about this before?  Do people actually do this?  Let me know if you have ever heard of this and have participated in it.

Some things about the day:

How cool are leprechauns they protect a pot of gold which is pretty sweet if you could ever find one.  However, if you ever see on, you put that shit down because they are not supposed to be real and if they are they are evil.  Watch the movies, they kill people.

"Kiss me I'm Irish"  this line today is as easy as waiving beads in front of girls.  For some reason beads and this line makes it pretty easy to get at least a kiss.

4 Leaf Clover:  as a superstitious person if you get a hold of this you hold onto that thing.

Whats the deal with green bagels...I know its just food coloring, but no one actually thinks this looks good right?  I am all for showing pride in a holiday but green bagels just is a preview of what its going to look at after a full day of drinking.....

Hope you enjoyed the holiday.

Before I go:

Yesterdays Movie Quote: Big Fish

Todays quote:  "Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, the glory, now and forever. Amen."

Review and Rant

Every now and then if I watch a movie or a new show I am going to give my opinion and last night a new show aired on NBC, Kings.

I don't know if anyone watched it but the premise of the show seems to be that a country possibly the United States is split into two countries at war with each other and there is a king in charge of one of the countries, possibly one in charge of the other but we are yet to know that.  The pilot episode basically gave us a little background of the birth of a kingdom and the war that has started since then.

The cast seems to be solid, the main characters are Christopher Egan, I don't think he has been in anything even though he looks familiar and if he has been in anything lets be honest it obviously wasn't that good.  Next on the bill after the first episode is the King played by Ian McShane who most recently was in We Are Marshall.  Both actors are very good early in this show and I look forward to seeing where it goes from here.

I definitely recommend Kings, at least so far.  I know I will be watching at least the next few episodes and hope it continues to be solid.  Check it out and catch up on the first episode on NBC.com where you can watch the entire episode.  Or look on hulu.com where it is available.

Now onto a few rants from this weekend:

I went to the Syracuse game vs Louisville on Saturday which was the Big East Championship.  Unfortunately we lost, but that is not important to this rant. So after many beers it is time to make a trip to the bathroom.  I head into the bathroom where there are about 5 urinals, my friend also going to the bathroom takes one end and I naturally take the opposite end.  Next guy walks in and finds it necessary to take the urinal next to me....WHAT THE FUCK GUY!  Have some bathroom etiquette, you should take the middle urinal.  Why would you stand next to me, and I know many of you might think, it is a stadium a lot of people are going to be coming in, but this extends outside of a stadium.  This includes a bathroom anywhere.  You are supposed to have a one urinal distance between you and the next person.  Unless a severe circumstance or if all urinals and stalls are taken.  In which case then it is ok to post up next to someone else.  Men you are better than this if you are the person standing next to someone.  Grow up and know the rules.

Lastly on the weekend, I am a friendly guy, most people that know me would know this, but there are people that probably don't like me and same from here.  Now I am with my friend after the game on Saturday and we head to some bar when randomly some kid from school comes up to us and starts to chit chat with us.  First off I haven't had a conversation with this kid since freshman year and even though we hung out at the same places the other 3 years we never talked.  Why would you come up to us, both not really liking you and you obviously not liking us.  It isn't necessary, he came up to us.  If I haven't talked to you since freshman year I don't want to talk to you know.  Smile and nod no need for anything more.  That was a little harsh of a rant, let me rephrase, if I was friendly to you and you were friendly to me and for whatever reason we haven't talked in a while by all means I would love to catch up, but if I haven't talked to you in four years and was not very friendly with each other no need to start talking now....move on.

Before I go:

Yesterdays Movie Quote was Remember The Titans.

Todays Quote:"There's a time when a man needs to fight and a time when he needs to accept that his destiny's lost, the ship has sailed and that only a fool will continue. The truth is I've always been a fool."

Question of the Day:  Would you rather be the King (or Queen) or the Prince (or Princess)?
I know most say be the Prince cause one day you'll be the King, but fuck that I want to be the King.  Give me the crown and let me rule.

I am running a March Madness pool, it is $25.00 an entry and is being run through CBSsports.com, let me know if you want in.

Let the Madness BEGIN

After a week of great Conference Tournaments we finally had Selection Sunday and now its time to start filling out your many brackets, convince yourself that you know something no one else in the country does and put yourself at the top of your office pools.

Here is a quick run down of the conference tournaments:

Best Game: This one is easy, could be one of the best games of all time and its airing on ESPN Classic as I write this: Uconn vs Syracuse 6 OT game.

Biggest upset winner: I need to give this one to Morehead State beating Austin Peay in double OT in the Ohio Valley Conference the other upset that is right up there is Missisippi State beating Tennessee.

MVP of Conference week: This might be a bias pick but to me it is hands down Johnny Flynn, who owned MSG and made fans of college basketball start to root for Cuse. Flynn played 67 of 70 minutes in the 6 OT game and the next night played all 45 minutes of the overtime game vs West Virginia. Flynn averaged 19.8 points and 9.3 assists in the tourny and became only the 4th player ever in Big East Tournament to win the MVP and be on the loosing team.

Yours truly went 9 and 16 in predicting the conference tournament winners, not my best work, but now its time to bounce back with the real tournament.

On To The Brackets:

Some quick notes:
-For the first time ever one conference has 3 #1 seeds, that being Big East: Louisville, Pitt and Uconn
-Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Arizona and Dayton all were heard their names and are dancing there way into the tournament
-Villanova as a 3 seed gets to play their first and potentially second in Philly where they play most of their games.
-Snubs: Creighton and Saint Mary, and PSU, but lets be honest they didnt do their jobs all season and now are heading to the NIT, no real snubs this year.

My most intriguing matchups of the first round:

In the Midwest the always dreaded 5 vs 12 seed Utah vs Arizona is just asking for an upset. I really like Zona here especially with them getting into the tournament, they are going to be ready to play and prove that they deserve to be here.

In the same bracket Wake Forest vs Cleveland State, now I am not going to say Cleveland State is going to win, but this team is much better than people are going to think of them as. This team beat Syracuse in Cuse and they beat Butler another tournament team. This team has talent inside and out and could cause a problem for many teams in the tourny.

Moving to the South region a very intriguing game is Clemson vs Michigan. Clemson isnt as good as people think they are. They have a great press and when they get going can be dangerous but too often they play lazy basketball and have to spend the entire second half trying to play catchup. Michigan another team proving why they belong here is going to be a very tough game for this team. This one is a must see opening round game.

In the same bracket Illinois vs Western Kentucky again the dreaded 5 vs 12. Illinois a run and gun team might not be what we think they are. I see Western Kentucky who had a upset or two last year is going to come out firing and they have the confidence that they can win because they have been there before. This one is calling for a 12 upset of 5.

Sleepers:

Here are the teams that are very capable to make a deep run into the tournament. Many of these teams can win a few games if not more in March.

1. Wake Forest, not much of a sleeper as a 4 seed, but this team is really good. They can win the whole thing if they get the right matchups. If they come out flat though they can be heading home after one game. This team definetly has the talent though to win many games and I think they will until they run into a road block from the Big East, Louisville.

2. Villanova, again not much of a sleeper as a 3 seed, but again this team has the talent to win it all. This team can very easily make it to the Final Four. They have inside and outside play and are playing really well of late. Watch this team to meet Pitt and then it is anyones game.

3. Texas, a number 7 season I guess my first real sleeper if they can escape their first round game vs Minnesota they can beat Duke and I think they will beat Duke. That will be the end of their run, but if they get their they might have just enough talent to keep it going.

4. Arizona State, GOD I HOPE NOT. This team is talented, and I wish they werent potentially going up against Syracuse in round 2. I wish they were on the opposite side of the brackets because this team can make noise. I hope they loose first round.

5. Michigan, this team is building confidence and can play physical enough in this tournament to give teams a problem. It is a funny thing what confidence can do and its even funnier what can happen when you need to prove to the country you belong. Watch Michigan win a game or two.

6. Maryland. I had them on the outside of this tournament, but they did what they needed to do in the ACC tourny and that was winning 2 games. Another team that can run with most teams in the country. A great coach who knows how to coach in this tournament and a team that is more than just happy to be here. I have them beating Cal and then if they can play their A game and keep it close early in the second half vs Memphis they can beat them. I am pulling for them, but I see at least one win for the Terps.

My Elite 8 matchups:
Midwest: Louisville vs Kansas
West: Uconn vs Memphis
East: Pitt vs Nova
South UNC vs Syracuse

No real surprises and in these matchups anyone can win but my final four are:
Louisville
Memphis
Pitt
UNC (my heart is with Syracuse on this and it can certainly happen)

Louisville vs Pitt finals where I have Pitt who I think is just the best team in the country to win this game. However, if Cuse can beat UNC if they got to that point I have Cuse vs Louisville in the finals, hopefully we avenge two 10 point losses to them.

I will make my pics for each game the day before just to see how I do and I want to hear your final fours, post them so we can see who is right.

I am running a pool for the tournament, it is $25.00 an entry and will be running it on CBS. If you want in post a comment or email/im me. I will update the standings on the blog with the top 4 after each night of games or round.

Before I go:

Last movie quote was Hoosiers. The classic sports movie, Gene Hackman is great in it if you havent seen it do yourself a favor and watch it before the tournament it will get you going.

Todays Movie Quote: "No, it ain't Coach. With all due respect, uh, you demanded more of us. You demanded perfection. Now, I ain't saying that I'm perfect, 'cause I'm not. And I ain't gonna never be. None of us are. But we have won every single game we have played till now. So this team is perfect. We stepped out on that field that way tonight. And, uh, if it's all the same to you, Coach, that's how we want to leave it."

Question of the day: Who is your Final Four? Post a comment with your choices.

An Incredible Epic

So I know that my quote last night was the weekend report and I figured I would not be writing a blog until Sunday but last nights game made this blog needed.  For those of you who stayed up till around 1:30 in the morning and happened to be on ESPN you would have been watching one of the greatest college basketball games of all time.  Two bitter rivals Syracuse vs Uconn squared off last night in the Big East Tournament.  The game started at 9:36 and as of 1:30 we had just ended a 3 hours and 46 minutes game.   The game was 70 minutes long the normal college basketball game is 40.  This game was an instant classic, it was probably airing on ESPN Classic at 12:00 am with the outcome still in doubt.

The game went into 6 overtimes.....ARE YOU KIDDING ME.  Syracuse didn't lead in any of the first 5 overtimes, but when the 6th started we finally got that lead and would never let go.  Cuse wins by 10, 127-117.  8 guys fouled out, Syracuse lost their 3 big guys and had a walk on playing in a Big East Tournament game.

Cuse had a 7 point lead with about 3 minutes left when Uconn came back and tied it up with 1.1 seconds left.  Thats when Devendorf caught the ball at the 3 point line and put up a shot that win in as the buzzer sounds.  The basket is called good and at around 11:30 the game seems to be over which would have made this game a great one anyway but that is until instant replay and the refs say the ball is still in his hands as the buzzer sounds.  Truth be told its was the right call but very heartbreaking.  The first OT Rick Jackson gets a dunk to tie it up with 4 seconds left.    Then in the third OT Andy Rautins hits a 3 with 11 seconds left to tie the game.  It wasn't until the 6th OT when Andy hit a 3 that Syracuse led.

This game had it all and was mentally draining just to watch, I can only imagine Johnny Flynn who played 67 out of 70 minutes.  Speaking of Flynn he was incredible, 14 free throws.  Arinze even hit 2 free throws in a row only the second time all year.  It was a game for the ages and Andy, Flynn and Paul played incredible.  The team played with heart and they are starting to show the country something special heading into the tournament.

In case you missed the game here are some highlights you missed and make sure you get this game on ESPN Classic and watch it.

I think it was the best sporting event I have ever seen.

Before I go,

Yesterdays Movie Quote:  Almost Famous
Todays Quote: "If you put your effort and concentration into playing to your potential, to be the best that you can be, I don't care what the scoreboard says at the end of the game, in my book we're gonna be winners."

Question of the day:  What is your most memorable sports moment?

Have a great weekend, Go CUSE!

Weekend Report

So there is no Holy Lost today as there was not a new episode of Lost this week, so we will not have a post from Mos Jef, so you are stuck with me for the day.

Once a week I am going to try to give you a quick synopsis of movies opening the upcoming weekend.  If there is going to be new cds and other entertainment I will also make my comments about that.  As an avid movie fan I like to think I have good taste, if you disagree or agree with my comments let me know and if you want to add your comments for all the readers out there post a comment.

There are three movies opening up Nation wide this weekend: The Last House On The Left, Miss March and Race To Witch Mountain.

The Rock should have stayed in wrestling if he is going to do movies like this and the Game Plan.  Are you kidding me, this movie look God Awful.  You would need to pay for my ticket and get me popcorn, milk duds and a cherry coke to go see this movie.  The premise is the Rock, a taxi driver has "Aliens" come into his cab and the only way to save the world from some sort of attack is to get to Witch Mountain.  DO NOT see this movie, this will win worst movie of the year hands down.  How does the Rock pick this movie to do, is he really getting zero offers for movies?  I give this a 0 out of 10.

The second movie is Miss March.  Another movie that does not look good, however this movie will be significantly better than the Witch Mountain because of hot girls.  This is trying to be a college/high school movie of the 90s unfortunately those great movies are a endangered species.  We will not have any more good college movies like: The breakfast Club, Can't Hardly Wait, American Pies etc.  This movie can be entertaining if you are high and get in for free.  I do not recommend this movie.  I will assume its going to be a 1 or 2 out of 10, to much wanna be in this movie.  Pass on it.

The last movie opening this week is Last House On The Left.  Now I am not saying this movie is going to be good but for some reason the movie intrigues me.  I think it is because the trailer is so vague.  All we know is this girl is left for dead after being beat up for some reason.  Then those people for some reason end up in that same persons house where the parents go on to torture and kill them.  I want to know why all of this happens, so I give credit to the people who create this trailer.  I will not see this movie in the theaters but it is the best movie coming out this weekend.  No more than a 3 out of 10, but I if I was able to see it for free I might sit thru it.

After looking at the movies coming out this weekend, I would not recommend going to the theatre this weekend.  Save your $10-$25 you would spend and go get some beers and watch the conference tournaments that are going on everyday this weekend.  Another option is take that money to Best Buy and buy Milk which comes out on DVD this week.  Sean Penn is brilliant in this movie where he portrays Harvey Milk.  Great cast, and very good movie, I highly recommend it.

I will be watching sports this weekend as there is great college basketball on all weekend.  Also there is Tigers first stroke play return which will be fun to watch come Saturday and Sunday.  Get some beer and get drunk watching high quality match ups.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and I will be back probably Sunday, but check in on Friday and Saturday just in case.

Yesterdays Movie quote was: Black Sheep, a great Farley and Spade comedy.

Todays Quote:  "The only true currency in this bankrupt world... is what you share with someone else when you're uncool."

Question of the Day:  If a movie was being made about your life who would you want to play you at the beginning of your life, middle of your life and towards the end of your life?
For me I think I would like my younger years to be played by the kid from Jerry Maguire cause he is kinda cool.  Middle of the road would be Leonardo Dicaprio from Catch Me If You Can because he is the man in that, con man but cares about his family and friends.  I would want my older self to be played by Jack Nicholson because he is my favorite actor.  He is hands down the man.

Quick Rant

Not a real long post for today as I just got home from the Syracuse Game where they handled the Hall and now will take on Uconn tomorrow.  I did want to post this quick issue that I have, which happened again today.

For those of you that take the bus often into the city or anywhere for that matter will know what I am talking about when I say that people need to have travel manners.  If you are on a bus remember there are other fucking people on the bus, that means that when you get a phone call it is bad enough the entire bus needs to hear your gay ass ring do not make it worse by talking for the next hour.  No one wants to hear your grocery list or a stupid fucking story that happened at work that day.  There should be a rule that you cant be on your cell phone on the bus for more than 45 seconds.  What's worse is when that conversation takes place in another language so not only are you annoyed your confused and annoyed.

The second rule that should be followed is if you snore you are not allowed to sleep on the bus.  I am sorry, but give me a fucking break I have to hear you snoring on the bus when all I want to do is be somewhere else or asleep and I can't because of the noises you have coming out of your mouth.

Rule 3 which is similar to rule 1, if you are with someone on the bus why do you find it necessary to fucking scream to each other?  You are sitting right next to each other I don't need to know your stupid stories.

As you can tell I did not have a very pleasant bus ride today.  I am sure you have all had issues like this before during travel.  If you have other rules you think should be followed post your comments as I would like to add to this list.

Before I go:

Yesterdays movie quote was Caddyshack, a classic.

Todays Movie Quote:  "Raving psycho! Butchered 400 chickens and screwed a beagle. I'm taking him back to Nevada where he's wanted for banging horses!"

Question of the day:  Which of your friends would you pick to be your cellmate in Jail?
